Carrie has had experience as a barn manager since 1978. She began with Swinging M Stables in November of 2009. Prior to that, she was barn manager at another local boarding facility, a Standardbred racing barn (where she worked and trained the race horses), a dude ranch and a Girl Scout camp barn.
In all her positions, Carrie has been responsible for overseeing the health and safety of the horses, feeding programs, stall cleaning, and everything else necessary to keep a barn running smoothly. Carrie is knowledgeable and has a wonderful way with both horses and people!! We invite you to come meet her. You will love her!
As the barn manager at Swinging M, Carrie Hazelwood is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of the horses boarded there. She is highly skilled in all aspects of horsemanship. She has a solid working knowledge of basic medical treatments, equine nutritional needs, and equine behavioral management. I have never been at a stable where the horse's overall needs have been so well managed. She is always there to lend a helping hand but never over states her opinion; this quality is a rarity in the horse business.

I have known Carrie since 2009 as stable manager for Swinging M Stables. During this time I have developed an ever growing appreciation for the high quality care that she gives to my horse, and all the horses at the farm.
Carrie is my eyes, ears and hands on when I'm not there. She notices his physical appearance, his movement, his attitude, and behavior. She has caught minute changes that has enabled us to ward off bigger problems. She has immense knowledge of the equine athlete and can offer advice on nutrition, conditioning or leg bandaging. Carrie problem solves easily and is a great sounding board. She is very timely, and follows a strict routine with the horses. My horse is quirky, and she manages this easily and understands his behavior. She has an uncanny ability to read radar (even when the "weathermen" are wrong), and the horses are always in or outside appropriately for weather conditions.
The best thing about Carrie, is that she somehow manages to treat every horse as if it were her own; looking out for their every need, physical, nutritional, and even mental wellbeing.

I have been a boarder at Swinging M Stables since 2012. Carrie Hazelwood is a wonderful barn manager. I appreciate knowing that someone with her knowledge is there to keep an eye out for my horse. If I have a question or concern about the welfare of my horse she is always willing to talk to me. Carrie is also very friendly! I love when I get a chance to sit and talk with her and hear about her past experiences. I can really tell that she has a love and passion for horses!

Swinging M Stables gives the ultimate care for horses and has a family atmosphere! Each horse boarded at SMS receives personalized care under the leadership of owner Landi Moore and the management of Carrie Underwood. Through specific supplements for stalled horses, assistance with farrier services for stalled horses, and daily management of our horse's health, Landi and Carrie have had the needs of our beloved animal first and foremost in their thoughts and actions. Carrie notices even the little things, such as a runny nose or slight limp and is quick to communicate observations to owners. Rainy, wet spring weather would keep most horses in their stalls. But even when pasture conditions do not permit regular turnout, Carrie and her staff work to be sure horses get a couple of hours' turnout in the "sacrifice" lots.
Under Landi's leadership the SMS facility is clean and organized. The newest changes of the footing in the indoor arena and medical paddocks for horses on limited turnout are few of the many improvements that reflect Landi's visions for making SMS a facility for all levels of horse owners and riders.
Fellow boarders at SMS are friendly, social and supportive...like a family! Frequently, impromptu rides among boarders, conversations about equine life and many laughs occur. Landi, Carrie, staff and fellow boarders work together as a team to learn about and care for the horses at SMS. Our horse is happy, safe, well cared for, and LOVED at SMS.

Louisa grew up in Fayetteville, New York where she rode with the Limestone Pony Club and Limestone Creek Hunt. She obtained her C3 rating from Pony Club and competed up to the Preliminary level in 3 Day Eventing.
After college and spending 25 years behind the computer, Louisa decided to return to her true passion of horse care and joined the Swinging M team.
My focus is to take care of the total needs of the horse, both physically and mentally. This includes not only proper nutrition and turnout, but also includes creating an open line of communication with the owner to help them achieve their goals.

As one of the barn managers, Louisa Adair is mindful, passionate, and knowledgeable of all horses and owners. She has each horse's well-being, health, and happiness in mind, while providing the highly effective care for each member of the SMS family.
Louisa is observant and leans on her vast knowledge of equine health and behavior to provide the best possible care for each unique horse at SMS. Daily, one will find her observing and noting each horse's behaviors to collaborate with Carrie, the other barn manager, and owners to plan equine care strategies.
Louisa goes beyond her duties to keep owners informed and assist to give each horse the best personal care. She is our eyes and ears on the ground when we are away from our beloved animals. Often, Louisa will communicate about our horse's care, such as noticing weight gains/losses, balanced nutrition, or a physical change in body or movement. While I am at the stables, she always has a warm smile and an interesting tidbit about our horse's daily activities to share. Her calm business sense gives owners such peace of mind! In the more than ten years I have known Louisa as a rider and recently a manager, I have seen her use her equine knowledge and talents to create a healthy, happy, safe environment for the animals and humans at SMS.

As a new boarder at Swinging M Stables, I have really appreciated Louisa's help and care with my horse. My gelding is a hard keeper who is sensitive to the cold and rain, but I don't worry while sitting at work whether or not the pop-up shower is causing him discomfort because Louisa keeps a close eye on him and lets me know when he's shaking. My gelding is normally a pasture boarder, but he was a stall boarder for a little while over the winter, and I was so happy to hear how much she was loving on him during that time because he normally gets really stressed being inside, but he stayed relaxed during that time because of her extra attention.
Louisa and Carrie were also very helpful and accommodating during that time as I adjusted his feed components and amounts. It was so nice being able to trust that my gelding was being well cared for. Louisa has a calm and friendly demeanor with the horses and boarders which makes me feel so comfortable having him here with knowledgeable caregivers.

As a boarder at Swinging M for the last eight years, I cannot say enough about the expert quality of care that horses and riders receive there. LOUISA ADAIR is the newest member of DREAM TEAM LANDI. My first memory of Louisa is of her riding bareback down the beautiful lane that leads to the gorgeous area where the pasture horses reside. An experienced horsewoman, Louisa shares her cheer and wisdom willingly with all who ask. She is a master at taking care of the little details that make all the difference in the world. I texted her the other day to see if a blanket change was in order after an unexpected snow squall. Her assurances made for a restful night for my horse and me!

Ever since we moved to Indiana, I would drive by the Swinging M property wishing that one day... I would have a horse and be able to ride there. Now, every day I walk into our barn, I smile as I realize how fortunate we are. Landi has grown Swinging M Stables to one of the best programs in the area supported by professional and caring staff, like Louisa, who has proven to go above and beyond time and time again. Louisa is a significant contributor to our culture of family, friendship and respect for one another where the welfare of the horse comes first.
